In Search Of Ideal “Mobile Search”

Silicon.com: Here is a nice article by Quocirca‘s Rob Bamforth on mobile search and the challenges faced by content providers to reach the mobile user who is looking for information on-demand. As of now most mobile operators use their portals like a “walled garden”, restricting users from accessing content of other operators. That’s a challenge to be sorted out. Then there is a need to develop good location-based search on mobile since the users could be looking for information nearby. The problem is the mobile handset landscape is more complex than the desktop. All told, Bamforth says, “Those whose content is easy to find will be the ones to keep the users, and those who lose users will be the ones to weep.”
