UK-based Carphone Warehouse has upped its mobile content push in readiness for a world where content will drive handset sales. A portal PhoneArcade.co.uk was soft launched last week with some games, but “a further 300 lines of content due to be made available over the Easter weekend. A complementary WAP site set to come online in two weeks.” Everything is on a pay-per-download basis, with Carphone Warehouse wary of the subscription model after all the controversy.
The content will eventually also be targeted at any device capable of accepting a digital download, such as a PSP handheld, and there are also plans for PC games and full track audio and video streaming for both PCs and mobiles.
