Selling Content Via Commodities

LiverpoolFCIt started off with wallpapers and ringtones, then went on to themes for mobile phones. Now companies are adding unique content to other commoditized parts of the handset to turn a buck — and if it sells, why not? Case in point… Liverpool Football Club is offering Java calendars and clocks (from Arena Mobile) which are branded with the clubs logo. The apps cost 3 pounds, and the calendars have the match fixtures for the season included, which adds some pretty cool value.
