Nah, the new media doesn’t need the Emmys..for now it is the other way round…The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has named finalists for new media Emmy Award that will recognize entertainment programs created specifically online, portable players and mobile content.
The nominees are “24: Conspiracy,” a mobisode by Fox; “It’s Jerrytime!,” an animated blog by Ozone Inc.; “Live 8 on AOL”; “mtvU Stand In,” short-form episodes for mtvU’s broadband channel; “Sophie Chase,” an online series by CB Films Inc.; and “Stranger Adventures: Helen Beaumont,” an online interactive adventure series by Riddle Productions.
The requirement was that the show not appear first on TV or elsewhere.
TVWeek: A new Emmy Award for broadband will also be presented at the 27th annual Sports Emmy Awards on May 1. Later this year, broadband awards will be given during the News & Documentary, Business & Financial Reporting and Community and Public Service Emmy Awards ceremonies.
