Washington Post: An Anglo-Italian band is launching next month Britain’s first single that can only be bought by mobile phone. “Stop Me” by Planet Funk will be released on mobile network operator 3 UK on May 8. Another single, “Crazy”, by Gnarls Barclay, had reached the number one spot in the UK singles chart by download sales alone, before it was even available in record stores. This is another attempt by bands and record companies to revive the flagging sales of the UK singles market. Downloads account for around 4 percent of UK singles sales.
