UK To Hold UK Spectrum Auction Next year; Hopes For M0bile TV Use

UK media regulator Ofcom will hold a spectrum auction in Q1 of next year, paving the way for potential widescale deployment of streaming mobile TV. The auction will take place by March 2007, giving interested parties till June 9 this year to submit proposals.
Two mobile TV trials have taken place in the UK — one backed by Nokia, O2 and Arqiva and the other involving Virgin Mobile and BT Movio. The fight in UK is between DVB-H and DMB.
