Junglee Co-Founder Rakesh Mathur Launches Webaroo; It Accesses Net Offline

Junglee co-founder Rakesh Mathur is back with another company – Webaroo. It is a free software that lets you search and browse real web pages without a connection. How it does is that Webaroo stores searchable web content on your laptop, PDA or smart phone when you are online and then makes it available for you when you are offline. In a boost to Mathur’s next big bet, Acer has announced it plans to bundle the Webaroo software on its laptop PCs worldwide. Webaroo was founded in 2004 by Rakesh Mathur, Brad Husick and Beerud Sheth, and the company has offices in Santa Clara (California), Bellevue (Washington), Mumbai and New Delhi. Siliconbeat‘s Matt Marshall writes on Webaroo: “We’re a little flummoxed that this could be a big idea, as it seems sort of backward. Gosh, isn’t the world moving to ubiquitous wireless availability? But the company says there are still plenty of places you can’t get on the Internet, and having web sites downloaded automatically can save people time and worry.
I think it’s useful in India, given our connectivity and bandwidth problems. What say?
