(via Peter) An interview with Chris Hendricks, McClatchy’s VP of interactive media. He dispells rumors that his company wants to disband the Real Cities advertising network and elaborated on MClatchy CEO Gary Pruitt’s public comments about eliminating $15 million in digital-media redundancies after the $4.5 billion acquisition is finalized pending regulatory approval.
The publications that will be sold, including The Philadelphia Inquirer and San Jose Mercury News, can rejoin the network, but the decisions will be made by the acquiring companies, Hendricks said.
McClatchy has no plans to divest KR’s one-third ownership stake in CareerBuilder and ShopLocal, which Knight Ridder owns with Gannett and Tribune , but executives will look carefully at Knight Ridder’s investments in CityXpress, Topix.net and Tribe.
