Getty Images, which recently announced its mobile strategy, has acquired Irish company Pixel Images Holdings Ltd. for $135 million in cash. Getty Images Chief Executive Jonathan Klein said the acquisition was in line with its strategy of boosting its collection of wholly owned images, which offer higher margins and greater flexibility for future licensing options. Pixel Images was founded in 1996 by Jerry Kennelly, and is now the third-largest player in the world. “It was the right time to exit,” said Jerry Kennelly. “There are a lot of dynamics that are changing this business.
