DTH Penetration In India Reaches 2.26 Million Households; Rural Claims 88%

The Economic Times: Here are some numbers on the direct-to-home (DTH) television penetration. According to a study by IMRB International for TAM Media Research, DTH is consumed in 2.26 million households as of today. An 88% of it is in rural India and the balance in urban India. The study said the consumption of Dish TV DTH service has been higher in urban India, while DD Direct rules in rural areas. LV Krishnan, CEO, TAM Media Research, claimed that the advent of digital technology (DTH, broadband, CAS, etc) has marked the third revolution in the Indian television landscape.
