@ CTIA: Len Lauer Sets The Table

Len Lauer led off this morning’s keynote marathon in his dual guise as Sprint Nextel COO and chairman of CTIA, setting the agenda with stern words about government interference as FCC Chair Kevin Martin waited in the wings. Some examples:
— “We need to make sure we’re not inhibited by overzealous government.” From his perspective, government’s prime role should to be to guarantee level playing fields.
— “It’s very important for us in the area where we have some regulation that it be done at the federal level, not 50 different states. … We’ve got to be stronger in this.”
— “We want to make sure the FCC continues to support the wireless industry and that they take a light touch.”
