Our First C&D: MocoNews vs FierceMoco

So this is a first for us: It turns out we must defend our brand and the goodwill we have built in the community against a much bigger trade media company.
Here’s the situation: A Washington, DC-based company called FierceMarkets is a B2B trade company with about 12 newsletters on various topics. The one that many of you may be aware of is FierceWireless, which covers wireless- and mobile-enterprise business. About a month or so ago, the company launched FierceMoCo, a newsletter covering the mobile-content sector. As you know, we have a news site called MocoNews.net that covers the mobile-content sector and has been breaking stories since June 2003…long story short, they filed for a trademark for the word “moco” against their own argument of “moco” being a generic…full details here….
