International Herald Tribune: IBM has announced an alliance with Rapport, a Silicon Valley startup, which has designed a wonder chip that would perform tasks like video processing consuming just a tenth of the power of other chips. The Rapport technology, known as Kilocore, will also improve the performance of video streamed to handsets. Rapport, which raised $7 million last year in VC funds, will use one of IBM’s PowerPC cores as part of the design, and IBM will manufacture the chip. However, the companies haven’t announced a manufacturing time line yet.
