Visual content distributor Getty Images has outlines some more details of its mobile strategy. It will tie up with mobile operators, content creators, celebrities, and professional sports organizations to bring news, sports and entertainment imagery to mobile customers.
Its partners include Cingular Wireless, Sprint, MSNBC.com, USATODAY.com, and GoTV, among others. Sprint will offer Getty Images’ PictureCast WAP application which will deliver day’s news, sports and entertainment information in the form of pictures.
Reuters: An interview with Getty Images CEO Jonathan Klein: He sees sales of images for use in mobile devices as one of several small but fast-growing business segments that will help the company meet a 15 percent annual sales growth target.
In a related story, Getty’s rival Corbis is believed to be announcing a deal this week with ActiveSymbols, a developer of mobile imaging software, to provide photos for a morphing game for camera phones.
