UK’s Channel 4 Introduces Ad-Supported Mobile Content


UK’s Channel 4 New Media has for the first time introduced advertising on its mobile portal and allowed viewers to watch shows on mobile for free. The one-month long mobile advertising campaign of Samsung Fun Club will allow the users of Channel 4 mobile portal to watch streamed T4 mobile content without paying the 50p per clip charge. The five-second ad – to promote the Samsung Easter Egg Hunt, an online competition – is featured before the mobile clips of the T4 shows Hollyoaks and Shipwrecked.
On March 27, Japan’s Usen Corp too introduced commercials before giving mobile videos away for free.
