THQ’s Push in Online Casual Games

Console gaming publisher THQ plans to enter the casual video games market, competing with EA., RealNetworks, and Yahoo, among others, an analyst’s report said.

As part of the push, video-game company THQ will launch a new site called Slingdot.com, in mid-April, according to a report written by Evan Wilson, a stock analyst with Pacific Crest Securities.

With this move, THQ would be competing with EA…EA bought Pogo.com in 2001 and now generates $57.7 million in subscription revenue from the site. Analyst Wilson believes that THQ could match that revenue range in two years.
