Trip Hawkins of Digital Chocolate[by James Pearce] I spoke with game legend and EA founder Trip Hawkins about his vision for mobile games. He’s sticking to the same theme he has since starting Digital Chocolate – quality is more important than brand and games need to be designed with the mobile platform in mind – but he’s no longer alone now that carriers have indicated they’ll be looking for quality rather than brands.
Trip thinks that brands are actually a negative with regards to mobile games. “If they play a movie licensed game or they play an EA console game they’re likely to be disappointed because it’s not going to live up to what they saw on the movie theatre screen or what they play on the console,” he said. “And then they’re going to be disappointedâ
