CIOL: Semiconductor giant Texas Instruments (TI) is eyeing Indian digital cinema market. The company said that it is in preliminary talks with producers, theater owners and producers to explore the possibilities of digital light processing (DLP) projector/digital cinema in India.
Biswadip Mitra, MD, TI India, said, “We are in talks with the industry on how to change existing theaters and creating new multiplexes for digital cinema. Theater owners are excited at the prospect of simultaneous release at various theaters. We are also speaking to producers about the way to shrink three hour films for display on mobile phones.” Rich Templeton, CEO and president, TI, is visiting India to sell the concept.
