UK company Telescratch have developed “the world’s first scratch card for mobile phones”…consumers can request the scratch card via SMS or WAP. “Once the scratch card is delivered to their mobile phone, a branded “splash” screen will appear. Here, the consumer is encouraged to interact with the scratch card and scratch the display by moving the cursor either by a stylus or keypad to reveal a product image, promotional text, discount voucher, bar code, image or competition entry.”
Although it could be used in the traditional scratchie-style gambling it seems to be aimed more towards making mobile coupons and marketing more interactive. Ideally whatever is revealed gets the consumer to interact further, either via coupon for products or services or directing them to a WAP page.
