Empower Interactive, a UK-based mobile messaging solutions company, has received $18 million funding from a group of investors led by Scottish Equity Partners, and existing investors, Argo Global Capital, Cazenove Private Equity, DN Capital and IDG Ventures Europe. The funding will be used to expand into North and South America and for enhancing its technology platform as well. Russ Cummings, Director, Information Technology, SEP, said he sees growth in content rich messages sent by computer applications to both consumers and business users. The number of Application to Person (A2P) messages sent may touch 20 billion in three years from around 2 billion in 2004.
