InfoSpace To Launch Comprehensive Location Based Search On Sprint

InfoSpace has signed up to put InfoSpace Find It on “over 20 select Sprint and Nextel phones”. There’s plenty of mobile search solutions out there, InfoSpace seems to believe the comprehensive nature of its service will make it stand out.
“Bringing together listings, locations and directions, InfoSpace Find It! combines InfoSpace’s industry leadership in the online directory space with its expertise in designing location-based mobile products that eliminate the need for consumers to jump between multiple applications. As a result, with a few clicks from one application, a Sprint customer wanting to see the latest hit movie can automatically pinpoint their location, then look up nearby theaters, choose a film, pick a time, find a nearby ATM or restaurant and get directions.”
The service has some good features:

  • Local Quick Clicks: Find local business listings and locations with maps and driving directions with minimal clicking.
  • One-Stop Searching: A single search location for Yellow Pages, White Pages, Maps, Directions, Movie Listings and more.
  • Find People by Name or Number: Search using only first and last name, or by entering a phone number to find out to whom it belongs.
  • What’s Nearby: Access details on what’s close with one click on the phone, even if the caller doesn’t know exactly where they are.
  • Click to Connect: Make phone calls with one click instead of dialing the entire number.

However, it is a subscription service, and the success of InfoSpace Find It versus competing services will come down to relevance of results, ease of use and price…pretty much just like everything else.
