The latest shuffle at Microsoft sends eHome and the Media Center Edition to Robbie Bach’s Entertainment and Devices Division, already the home of Xbox and Microsoft TV. The group is headed by Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president, who is responsible for development, business management and marketing.
A Microsoft spokesperson explains: “As the company considered how to take eHome to the next phase, it made sense from a business perspective for eHome to join forces with the Entertainment and Devices Division. Aligning the ‘big three’ groups that focus on TV – Xbox, MSTV, and Media Center Edition – will bring greater focus to Microsoft’s efforts around consumer entertainment and will position the company to do an even better job of delivering entertainment value for its customers and partners.”
It particularly makes sense given Xbox’s Media Center attributes and the second-tier marketing pitch for the device as a Media Center extender. The move also include Media Center DVR.
