Update: Business Standard reports that Nripendra Misra, a former secretary in the department of telecom, will succeed Pradip Baijal as the new chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. Misra is set to take over tomorrow.
Indiantelevision.com: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) will have a new chairman. The current regulator Pradip Baijal has retired today after an eventful and controversial three-year tenure as the chief regulator and a civil services career spanning 40 years. Baijal was appointed chairman during the previous government, when Arun Shourie was the telecom minister. Nripendra Mishra, another retired bureaucrat, is now expected to take over from Baijal.
