California-based Promptu – earlier known as AgileTV Corporation – has launched a voice-based search application for mobile phones. It helps search for mobile content using a spoken word/s and thus spare the customer from using countless clicks and scrolls on their handset. “The current method of countless clicks and scrolls to search and buy mobile content can be a frustrating experience for users, and too many abandon their searches altogether,” said Brady O. Bruce, senior vice president of Telecom Products and Services who leads Promptu’s mobile business initiatives.
Talking of voice search, V-Enable is another company that has a speech search technology. It recently received $6 million funding from Softbank Capital and Palisades Ventures.
