STAR TV Says All Is Normal With Its Top Level Changes

Khaleej Times: STAR TV says the recent top-level restructuring done at Indian operations was routine and “logical”. Steve Askew, chief operating officer, STAR TV and the president of Star Entertainment, told Khaleej Times: “To the casual observer, if you are making the restructuring we did in India you might think it is turmoil, but to group all of the content together across the region, under the content guy, i.e, me, is a pretty logical thing for Michelle (Guthrie, group chief executive) to have done.”
In a recent rejig, Peter Mukerjea was named chief executive officer of STAR Group, India, in charge of all corporate functions, and Sameer Nair as chief executive officer of STAR Entertainment, India, as head of all content operations. It was considered a leg-up for Nair who was promoted and given the responsibility of the core operations.
Askew further says: ‘The business of Star has become so big that what Michelle wanted to do is to have the content part of the business headed up by me and then the business development headed up by the most senior people in the regions, who report to her. That to me is not chaos or turmoil – it is uneducated gossip.’ [Via Indiantelevision.com]
