The Contenido Movil Americas conference has come to a close and all the attendees I spoke to thought the conference was worthwhile, in fact long overdue. A typical comment (this is from Phil Perry, customer service manager of Digital Orchid but a lot of people expressed the same sentiments): “We’d love to get into brazil, it’s such a good market it’s ridiculous. This conference has been really good for us because we’ve made some contacts we think might help with that.”
Everyone was very pleased with the contacts they had made, which they have been trying to do for years but not managing. The same applies for me — I met a lot of great people, and although I don’t have any immediate plans to launch mobile content in Latin America the depth of understanding and the experience of those people greatly extended my knowledge of the LatAm market.
I came back to find my internet had been cut-off, but once it’s up again I’ll be posting an audio interview with Matt Gillis, VP of business development at Cosmic Games, a five-man outfit. He was on a panel with speakers from Glu Mobile and THQ, and Cosmic Games seems to punch way above its weight. This is a very good interview for anyone who is in a small mobile content development company, or is thinking of starting one.
