@ Contenido Movil: Russian Mobile Entertainment

I spoke with Alexei Makhov from Russian Mobile Entertainment (RME), a Russian producer of Java games. He sees Latin America as an emerging market, so the company is eager to get in. REM is following a common strategy — trying to get deals with local football teams (in this case for games) on the basis that this will be the most popular content. The company has a few other bonuses…the games are developed in the Ukraine so are a lot cheaper to produce (ex-soviet era specialists, “in defence for example, but they’re also good programmers”), RME is looking at a selling price of US$2-3. They’ve also got some interesting games which will probably do well in the Latin Market. For example, the description of Amore 3D (spelling mistakes corrected): “This is a new first player 3D shooter. You must fight with sexy amazons. And the weapon is — magical arrows. After you hit one of the beauties some times she falls in love with you, so she can’t resist any more. Bear in mind that before the Beauties fall in love they fight cruelly. Be careful at the old castle!” The screen caps show bikini-clad and topless Amazons…
