Alfonso Perez-Soto, media director for US latin and Latin America Warner Music gave an indication at Contenido Movil about some future plans of the label in developing mobile-specific content. It focuses on bundles, which is a good way to sell extra content and also ensure people buy through the mobile rather than copying from a CD. (Current efforts include things like pre-release premium packs)
There’s an audio bundle (full track, ringtone etc) a video bundle (music video, ringtone etc) and a gaming bundle, which will include an artist-branded game, a full-track, a mastertone, lyrics and artwork. That’s the sort of thing that will appeal to fans, and something they can’t get anywhere else. I hope WMG follows its own rules and releases a good game which won’t damage the artist brand…
