I guess Gilles has nothing else to do after all that money he got with Musiwave sale…the French entrepreneur Gilles Babinet, who his company to Openwave for $121 million in September, has started up a new mobile image and video startup called Eyeka, and has received $5 million in funding from Ventech, the same VC that led investment in his previous company, and DN Capital in the UK.
The funds are to be used to recruit a team and develop its product that is “only being sketchily described as a platform for consumers to manage, optimize and value the photos and video they generate from their cameraphones”.
Gilles left Musiwave in January this year.
The release about the funding is here (Word file)
