Verizon’s Keller, TX Service Offers Glimpse Of IPTV Future

We’ve been checking in on the progress of Verizon’s IPTV rollout in Keller, TX, deep in the heart of Charter Communications territory. In this update, BW says the company is signing up “slews of customers” for FiOS and that Keller has become a display model for the telecom, toured last month by FCC Chairman Kevin Martin. Still, BW holds back from an annointment: “… nobody is willing to declare just yet that its multibillion-dollar gambit to go up against the long-established cable and satellite guys is a winner.” Best anecdote: the guy trying to use his old satellite dish as a fish hatchery.
Marilyn O’Connell, Verizon SVP-video services, tells BW the company expects to wire 50 percent of its national customer base over the next three years.
