“Vodafone Germany plans to offer its customers mobile TV services based on the new DVB-H standard from 2007 onward. The Federal Network Agency has demonstrated the feasibility of German-wide DVB-H coverage.”
It’s currently demonstrating the service at CeBIT with “live broadcasts from TV channels such as MTV, Eurosport, Viva, Nickelodeon, fiction channel Das Vierte and two pay TV channels”. If it does get off the ground the service will put Germany ahead of most of Europe in terms of mobile TV deployment…mostly because it has the spectrum available. Korean standard DMB is also being showcased at CeBIT, with the attraction that far more European countries have spectrum available for that technology.
