Manages the qualitative and quantitative measurement and strategic analysis of Web sites and syndicated productions of NPR Digital Media (npr.org, on demand platforms, etc.); identifies audience segments, user personas and scenarios, and usage tends to produce actionable insights to key stakeholders on NPR’s editorial, marketing, sponsorship and audience research units; and trains and coordinates analysts, establishes methodologies, manages account configurations, and maintains vendor relationships.
Bachelor’s degree (Masters degree preferred). Two to four years experience with Web analytics using client-side, and panel-based tools and information products from Visual Sciences, Omniture, Coremetrics, Nielsen/NetRatings, and comStore; advanced understanding of audience segmentation, correlation analysis, and path analysis; excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills, strong initiative and an ability to work well in a team environment; strong command of Microsoft Excel, Journalism, project management, and/or Web development experience are also desirable. Must have the ability to extract data from an external data warehouse using established queries; an understanding of databases and how to manipulate data; conversant with advanced features and spreadsheets; strong analytical/qualitative skills; expertise in collecting, interpreting, analyzing, and reporting usage data for multiple Web sites and syndicated products across multiple domains; experience in analyzing data and generating metrics, charts, graphs, and slides based on business needs; proven ability to work as a team player to meet deadlines, often with minimal supervision; strong problem-solving and analytical skills; excellent communication and presentation skills with experience in providing crisp, insightful information to executive teams and coordinating cross-functional efforts and communications on a daily basis. Must have advanced use of at least one relational Web Analytics software package; understanding of Web client server technologies, including hardware, software, and architecture involved in the building and hosting of Web sites; at least a basic understanding of more advanced Web protocols, including javascript, cascading stylesheets (CSS), RSS/XML, and/or middleware solutions such as PHP; intermediate understanding of streaming media serving and delivery technologies; intermediate skill in project planning and site architecture tools, including MS Visio.
