I just had a look at the trailer for Empire Earth Mobile and am very excited…it’s a turn-based multiplayer strategy game, which I’ve been hanging out for ever since I realised mobile phones could send data to one another. This is published by Vivendi Universal Games Mobile which launched earlier this month. To my mind, turn-based multiplayer games are the SMS to real-time multiplayer games voice calls. With real-time games all parties have to be on the phone at once, whereas with turn-based games each person can take their turn in their own time, when they’ve got a chance. Plus, sending data to each other is good news for carriers.
The game also has skirmish and campaign modes, which leaves the way open for updated maps and battles to be sold once people have gone through the game…on-going revenue stream.
