Cingular Video: Cable Model For Mobile TV

Cingular is expanding the 3G Cingular Video service launched as a premium with HBO into a full-scale service that looks a lot like the cable model — a lot of material in expanded basic with premium “channels” like HBO and Nascar.com for those willing to pay more. The video is wrapped in with data in the Cingular variation; subscribers with 3G handsets and $19.99 MEdia Net Unlimited data package have access to the new content, which rolled out in 16 markets today. It’s by far the most expansive basic video package — the Turner element we wrote about earlier is a good example, designed to lure users to the 3G side.
