Business Standard has a report on the live webcasting of Union Budget 2006. It says it was for the first time ever, the Union Budget was webcast live in India. MSN India and Sifymax had livecast this year’s union budget. Both the portals claim that it’s for the first time the budget was available real time. “Till now,” says Krishna Prasad, head, programming, MSN India, “the Budget was available only on the NIC site. From our last year’s Budget experiments, we realised there was a huge audience of officegoers as well as NRI audiences who were keen to watch the Budget live.”
Agreed. But I don’t think it was for the first time Budget was available online this year – on an almost real time basis. India Today’s The NewspaperToday.com (which doesn’t exist anymore) use to have budget chats, real time updates, and other specials online – on real time basis.
