Hotmail founder Sabeer Bhatia has invested $5 million from his personal fortune (about $400 million when he sold Hotmail to MSFT) to develop blogeverywhere over the past two years. The idea was initially conceived by Shiraz Kanga, an Indian former software developer with Cisco Systems.
Users will be able to download a toolbar that allows them to write and publish their own blogs, while also giving Hotmail users faster access to their messages.
Financial Express: Bhatia is also launching a new India-focused VOIP venture: VoiFi Technology is debuting its maiden application: An IM Skype-like product, the application will additionally offer gaming and entertainment along with features like instant messaging and VoIP.
