The consolidation on the online health news and info sector continues, and has moved to UK now: Hearst, the magazine conglom which just sold its 25 percent stake in iVillage (NBC bought it…see our coverage below), has bought NetDoctor, Britain’s top consumer health website.
The site was bought by The National Magazine Co., Hearst’s UK arm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
NetDoctor launched in February 2000 and now draws about 2 million visitors a month…NatMag, which publishes alone or with partners 22 UK titles including Cosmopolitan and House Beautiful, also launched the marriage Web site youandyourwedding.co.uk last week. NatMag plans to relaunch all its magazine Web sites over the next year and is looking for more acquisitions.
