Canada Has Highest Per Capita Online Piracy Rate; Downloads Eat Into Sales

The continuing decline in Canadian music sales — down another 4 percent last year, reports the Canadian Recording Industry Assn. — can’t be solely attributed to online music piracy but it is one of the leading factors. Canada sports the highest online music piracy rate per capita in the world, according to IFPI, and an almost invisible digital sales rate of less one percent of record company sales.
