Personalized Greeting Firm Smilebox Gets $5 Million Funding

(via TAC): Missed this one earlier this month: Smilebox, a new Seattle-based startup in the personalized online greetings arena, has received $5 million in funding. Founded by Andrew Wright, the former VP of games at RealNetworks, the company’s round was led by Frazier Technology Ventures and angel investors such as former Macromedia Chairman Rob Burgess. RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser also is an investor in the year-old company, though he did not participate in the recent funding.

Smilebox combines the best from greeting sites like American Greetings and phot sharing services to create a personalized animated message, the company says.
