MusicNet: Senior Vice President, Business Development and Partner Relations, NYC

MusicNet is the world’s leading business-to-business digital music service provider. Many top global brands, such as Yahoo!, MTV and HMV, work with MusicNet to provide their customers with a full-featured digital music experience. MusicNet offers the industry’s largest catalog of licensed music, and a scalable portfolio of products and services that range from highly customized implementations to completely turnkey solutions. The company’s technologies enable subscriptions and a-la-carte download sales across a broad array of platforms, including desktop, web, mobile and set-top boxes.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced media executive to run all elements of the business that relate to our partners: domestic and international business development/sales, partner relations, marketing and public relations. This executive, who reports directly to the CEO, will be an integral part of the company’s senior management team and will contribute substantially to determining MusicNet’s ongoing strategic direction.

Business Development/Sales

The business development and sales group is responsible for closing deals with new customers who will use MusicNet’s products and services to sell music and video to their end consumers. MusicNet’s customers range in size from the world’s largest media companies to small websites.

The Senior Vice President, Business Development and Partner Relations must be skilled at generating leads, creating and delivering sales pitches at the most senior levels of large companies and then closing those deals. At the same time, this person must be able to direct both a business development team as well as a sales force that is focused on closing a large number of smaller agreements for MusicNet’s turnkey products. This person will work very closely with the executive management of the legal, finance, engineering and operations departments to structure and negotiate partner contracts. Additionally, this person will be responsible for communicating market feedback to our product development organization.

Partner Relations

The Partner Relations group establishes and maintains relationships across all divisions within companies that use MusicNet’s products and services. The group facilitates thorough communication between MusicNet and its partners and maximizes the profitability of the relationship. Partner Relations managers and directors have full responsibility for the accounts they manage and are the main points of business contact for their assigned partners.

The Senior Vice President, Business Development and Partner Relations will oversee the partner relations team. This person will ultimately be responsible for maintaining, improving, extending and renewing our partnerships.

International

In addition to its US services, MusicNet has launched services in Canada and Europe, and is expanding globally. The London office, which is responsible for all business development and partner relations for Europe, will report to the SVP.

Marketing/Public Relations

As a business-to-business company, MusicNet works to help its partners with their marketing and public relations. It also conducts business-to-business communications and marketing. The SVP will manage the marketing and PR team to ensure that MusicNet is coordinated with partner marketing and communication initiatives.

Staff

This position will be responsible for significant department growth, reflecting MusicNet’s expanding portfolio of products and markets. In addition to managing the current department members, this position will be responsible for immediately hiring additional staff for business development, sales and partner relations positions. Department staff will be based in New York, Seattle, Los Angeles and London.

Requirements


Professional

– Strong selling and closing abilities, with proven track record of performance

– Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships

– Experience in account management and partner relations

– Significant knowledge of digital media technologies and operations; able to communicate with engineering and operations staff on technical issues

– Ability to work closely with engineering and technical operations teams to convert market needs to a product roadmap

– Experience managing and leading teams

– A minimum of 7 years experience in media, including online media

– MBA preferred
