No, this isn’t our sister site MocoNews.net but we’ve had a slew of mobile content deals worth noting here in the last 24 hours. … The latest: MTV Networks has had considerable success with mobile abroad but the announcement today of a mobile TV-streaming radio deal with Sprint Nextel includes a first for the domestic carrier front. The first: MTVN is now supplying Sprint with three streaming radio stations (VH1, CMT, MTV). The four on-demand Sprint TV channels (CMT, Comedy Central, MTV and VH1) are the bigger deal content-wise, though, supplying much of MTVN’s signature material content via mobile including “Daily Show” highlights, “South Park” and made-for-mobile MTV News.
The fine print: each channel runs $5.95 plus data usage charges. Wouldn’t an MTVN package that at least pairs Comedy Central with each of the music channels make sense? I’m having a hard time imagining someone choosing to take more than one at that price.
