Horsesmouth: Marketing Manager, NYC

: Creative, energetic, goal-accomplishing marketing manager needed to explode our membership and sales efforts. 2006 is the year we plan to build out our direct marketing team and open major marketing campaigns across an array of channels. You will be responsible for driving new and renewal sales for Horsesmouth memberships and sales of special reports, web conferences, training, special events, and other planned products and services. You must have traditional direct marketing down cold and a burning desire to master online marketing (email, advertising, search, sponsorship, affiliates, blogs, etc.). A passion for running the numbers, testing and optimizing campaigns for best results is required. This is a “hands on” position with huge potential for growth.

Responsibilities will include:

– creating an annual strategic marketing plan, promotional schedule and expense budget. Execute the plan within budget and on time.

– developing an annual subscription sales budget (new/renewal sales).

– employing state of the art techniques for improving conversion and renewal rates.

– maximizing channel sales through current and new outlets including: direct mail, direct e-mail, telesales, and search engine marketing and search engine optimizations.

– exploiting new or underutilized channels including: partnerships, commercial ventures with advertisers, special sales, conferences, sales agents or other intermediaries, etc.

– working closely with the management team to ensure marketing messages achieve the positioning goals of the product.

– launch and manage direct mail and electronic marketing program

– writing copy, as needed, or reviewing and critiquing the efforts of in-house and outside copywriters for assigned products.

– hiring, training and supervising a marketing associate team.

– providing support for new product development with appropriate market analysis including: research, competitive analysis, customer segment analysis, market segment analysis.

– monitoring, analyzing and reporting marketing results and trends in business environment to the management team.
Required Skills

– 4-years of experience in subscription marketing in a professional publishing environment or related field – newsletter publishing a plus

– must be a highly motivated, creative, sales driven, entrepreneur with the ability to work autonomously.

– strong knowledge of channel marketing including: direct mail, electronic marketing, telephone sales, conferences.

Salary commensurate with experience.
