Comedy Central: Director, Programming Research, NYC

– Design, execute, analyze and present primary & secondary research projects to evaluate the performance of Comedy Central and its competitors in support of the dept.’s main clients: program planning, development, marketing, digital media & press.

– Develop strategic recommendations for senior management based on those studies re: scheduling, acquisitions, pilots, multiplatform efforts and brand positioning.

– Manage the day-to-day activities of the department and provide leadership, training and mentoring to team members.

– Create sophisticated Nielsen diagnostic reports to analyze overall schedule performance and audience flow.

– Moderate focus groups on pilot shows, current shows and network brand positioning and translate those findings into advice for key stakeholders

– Oversee telephone and online survey research projects done with outside vendors to maximize effectiveness and minimize costs.

– The position reports to the Vice President of Programming Research

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

– Minimum 6 years extensive media research experience (preferably at a cable/broadcast network).

– 2 years in a managerial role (preferably with direct reports).

– Detailed “inside/out” knowledge of Nielsen systems, especially N-Power is an absolute must.

– Familiarity with online metrics required.

– Strong PowerPoint skills and extensive presentation experience

– Focus group and survey experience preferred, not required.

– Should have in-depth knowledge of programs & strategies of broadcast & cable networks.

– Candidate will be a highly motivated, superbly organized, strategic thinker who is both a strong leader & team player and is simply incredibly passionate about TV.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

– Experience with Audience Watch is also a “plus.”
