@ Media Summit: Movies On Demand: The Hot Button Issues of Internet vs Cable Vs Telco

Compared to the mobile music panel (see post below), this one was minimally moderated, and yet turned out to be a hugely enjoyable one (the whole session was centered around audience questions and participation, a possible first at any of the Digital Hollywood events that I can remember). If you want to get an idea of the big hot button issues within the movie and video industry, listen to the audio from this one. There’s the cable vs telco divide on one hand, and then them vs the online/Web players. There is no one answer to it, and that’s where the fun and excitement in the industry lies.
Panelists included Jim Ramo, CEO, Movielink; Peter Roberts, GM, Advanced Services, Starz; Jeff Binder, President, Broadbus Technologies; James Kelso, VP, broadband systems, SeaChange; Jeff Shultz, CEO, CONCERT; and the moderator Rick Doherty, Director, The Envisioneering Group.
Very difficult for me to summarize, but if you listen to one piece of audio this week, make sure this is the one.
