Sky Restructures For Broadband

News Corp-controlled BSkyB has reshuffled its senior team as part of a restructure of the business to prepare for the launch of new services including broadband.

Among them, CMO Jon Florsheim takes on additional responsibility as MD of Sky’s customer group, overseeing the launch of broadband in the second half of 2006. Mike Darcey, group strategy director, becomes group commercial and strategy director with extended responsibility for a new group that combines Sky’s strategy, future technology, R&D and biz dev teams.

Digital-Lifesyles: James Murdoch, Sky’s CEO, touches on where BSkyB is planning on going, as they “exploit content on multiple platforms and expand into adjacent areas of business.” With the strength of BSkyB’s relationships with their customers, fear will be struck into the heart of many execs in many industries by the words “adjacent areas of business.”
