NTT DoCoMo and the Nippon Television Network Corp have agreed to work together to look at introducing mobile digital TV services, with each side investing 5 billion yen ($42M) in a fund that will “consider ways to offer digital television services for mobile phones as well as other opportunities for bringing Nippon TV content to DoCoMo users”.
One theory has said that DoCoMo will use mobile TV to lure viewers to other — more lucrative — mobile services such as i-mode.
