So put two and two together, after the Loudeye announcement earlier today about discontinuing music service development in U.S. and shelving of a project with an “unnamed North American retailer, the launch of which previously was delayed”. Turns out that it, in all probabilities, the retailer was Target…there was some buzz in the second half of last year that Target would be launching a music and movie download service. It was delayed due to technical reasons, and Loudeye’s own troubles, though I am sure Target has not completely shelved the idea.
