David Eckoff, who was at RealNetworks for the past four years and who has been a contributor to this site, recently started at Turner Broadcasting as Vice President, New Products. He’s responsbile for overseeing the development, evaluation and launch for Turner’s recently formed New Products Group.
– Shawn Gold is leaving Weblogs Inc. for MySpace.com, where he will be SVP for marketing and content. Prior to Weblogs, where he was president and publisher, Gold was president of eUniverse, later known as Intermix; the company acquired MySpace.com and itself was recently acquired by FIM as part of News Corp.’s internet growth spurt. He explained the move: “It is the perfect solution, now I have a job where I can hang out on MySpace.com all day and not get fired. I can be an amateur cultural anthropologist by helping to define and shape the brand of, arguably, the biggest cultural phenomenon this century.”
