The South Korean government wants the country to become a leader in mobile technologies by 2010, and has unveiled the M-1 (Mobile Number One) project. It will target five specific industry sectors, including: developing special zones for next-generation mobile communications technologies, development of a cheap and stable mobile environment, acquisition of technological competitiveness to lead in the global mobile technologies market, building a new environment to develop new mobile communications businesses and developing the market to allow stable growth in the local mobile industry.
