We are seeking two dynamic Managers of Digital Media Technology to join the New Technology Group at Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Successful candidates will be versed in a variety of emerging technologies in media and entertainment and will be responsible for analyzing market trends and new technologies to explore and evaluate their implications for opportunities in the digital distribution of audio, video and game products and services. The Managers will work to provide research, security reviews, and recommendation on new technologies, digital rights management and digital distribution channels for the Global Digital Business Division of Sony BMG Music Entertainment.
Responsibilities will include:
– Identifying emerging technologies and trends that will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the company’s digital distribution business
– Participating in the development of industry standards (file formats, metadata/indexing, compression, security, etc.)
– Providing technical consultation to internal business units
– Working closely with VP/SVP’s of technology, business development, and corporate counsel
Requirements:
Between the two candidates the following areas of technology proficiency are required:
– Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies and standards on various platforms including PCs (e.g. Wintel, Apple, Open Source), Consumer Electronics Devices and Mobile Devices
– Rights Expression Languages (RELs)
– Digital Asset Management (DAM) applications and technologies such as Artesia and Autonomy.
– Working knowledge of multimedia file formats and compression including Windows Media (WMA), QuickTime (AAC), MPEG Layer-3 (MP3), WAV, AIFF, etc.
– An working understanding of networking architectures and high-speed data transmission
– A working knowledge of Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX operating systems, PDA/Mobile: Symbian, Windows Mobile, Palm OS
– Hands-on knowledge of Macromedia (Director, Flash, Dreamweaver), Java, HTML, and XML programming languages
Successful candidates will also possess:
– Excellent time management and organizational skills
– Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written)
– The ability to handle multiple on-going projects
– The ability to work effectively in a team environment with a variety of corporate professionals and business partners
Qualifications:
– 5-10 years relevant experience, including 3-5 years experience in digital media, digital audio / video encoding, file compression, formatting standards, and/or web technologies.
– 3-5 years experience in project management
– Post-graduate degree in Computer or Information Science is preferred but not required
